Struggling with Roof Leaks, Water Leaks and Environmental Damage?

You need EGO Liquid Rubber!

EGO Liquid Rubber ensures that moisture does not leak into your roof by locating the source of leak and repairing it. Roofs aren’t the only surfaces which can be sealed and protected from water damage and the environment. There are a number of different surfaces which EGO Liquid Rubber assist with.

Moisture is dangerous especially when it comes to the longevity of your household. Rainwater and any type of ground water can ruin the integrity of the structure and weaken foundations. Doors and windows as well as cement itself can also be affected. If your gutter is not performing correctly and has leaks your roofing system and below ground will weaken over time.

What To Consider Before Waterproofing Your Roof

You may be thinking of using a waterproofing service for your roof. Where this is needed, there are a few things to consider. Whether you have been in your home for years, recently moved in or renovated you need to ensure that any and all waterproofing issues are fixed. Price is one thing to take into account as small leaks can lead to high costs. However, locating the source of the leak right away will save your house and your pocket.

The materials used are also important and one issue that one needs to consider is if the materials are environmentally friendly. EGO Liquid Rubber uses 100% lead free rubber as they work towards a more sustainable solution. Important to note that waterproofing needs to look at the flow and drainage of the roof. Waterproofing can be provided but if this factor is not met then leaking issues will reoccur over time.

Water damage often affects your house without you even knowing about it. Whether you have lived in your house for years or want to buy or rent a home you need to recognise signs of potential water damage. Water damage has more consequences than simply water leaking. This includes, floods, fire and structural issues which can develop. Moreover, mold can occur which is extremely dangerous in terms of health risks especially in households.

What Surfaces Can You Use Ego Liquid Rubber On?

The main surface which you need to worry about is the roof as it can cause a lot of external and internal damage. EGO Liquid Rubber ensures that the waterproofing procedure eliminates water damage from the equation. By doing so it also ensures that mold and mildew does not grow. Mold can cause health issues such as problems associated to the respiratory system. This is dangerous as it promotes a higher chance of illness occurring.

EGO Liquid Rubber also provides waterproofing for other types of surfaces such as decks. Moisture can cause wood to swell and eventually rot which is another factor which can lead to injury. Patios, concrete and even fences can also be waterproofed in order to increase the lifespan. It also guarantees that your exterior holds its appeal for longer.

How long does a EGO Liquid Rubber coating last?

Depending on the initial application thickness, EGO Liquid Rubber coatings could last a minimum of 15 years with maintenance every 5 years. We have performed extensive weather testing to determine how long the coating will last. What is more, EGO Liquid Rubber coatings often outlast their warranty, especially if they are maintained properly. If you live in an area where hail and thunderstorms often occur you should inspect your roof frequently.

Maintaining your EGO Liquid Rubber coating

Proper annual maintenance will improve the longevity of your EGO Liquid Rubber waterproof coating. The maintenance process starts with a visual inspection for signs of damage from factors like wind, debris or heavy rains. Special attention is paid to areas such as gutters and drains to ensure that rainwater is moving off the roof correctly and any minor repairs are fixed. EGO Liquid Rubber uses lead free rubber and assures up to 15 years quality warranty on the waterproofing products used.

APPLICATION TUTORIALS

Do a rip test (Stick 3 M tape to roof surface, leave for 10 minutes and then rip off. If old paint is stuck to the tape, then thorough cleaning with an industrial high pressure with rotating nozzle to remove old paint. Do the following should the roof surface be recoverable:

ZINC ROOF

1. Remove all visible rust and loose paint flakes
2. High Pressure wash roof thoroughly give enough time for roof to dry
3. Pop rivet overlaps where gaps are and pull the roof sheet together as far as possible
4. Determine what primers to use: Any Etch primer if roof have not been painted before or on new zinc roofs
5. Start off with the primer and if there is rust then treat all rust with EGO RUST CONVERTER - 2 separate coats, a 5 litre gives you 20m² total; a 20 litre gives you 80m² in total; Allow 2 hours to dry between coats
6. Seal all overlaps and valleys with membrane as well as all screw heads. Ensure that the membrane is flat and no folding of Membrane to prevent water seeping through the folding areas
7. When roof is completely dry and roof temperature is between 5-25°C then start applying the first coat horizontally (@ 0,5kg/m²) and second coat vertically (@ 0,5kg/m²). Allow 12 hours lapse time between coatings
8. For coatings use brush, roller or airless spray machine.

1x bucket EGO LIQUID RUBBER = 20kg (1x bucket gives you 20m²) (first coat 0.5kg) (second coat 0.5kg) =1kg/m² e.g. (house is 200m²) What do I need?

1. Primer = EGO BONDING LIQUID 1x20L bucket seal 100m² Roof size = 200m² ÷ 100 = 2 buckets EGO BONDING LIQUID
2. Preparation = EGO LIQUID RUBBER with membrane Roof size = 200m² x 0.3 = 60kg = 3 buckets EGO LIQUID RUBBER
3. Roof Coating = EGO LIQUID RUBBER Roof size = 200m² ÷ 20 = 10 buckets EGO LIQUID RUBBER for first and second coat (PLEASE NOTE: If there is still any rubber left after both coats, you must apply a third coat till all material are on the roof.)

TILE ROOF

1. Clean roof thoroughly with industrial high-pressure washer. Wait 24 hours to dry
2. Ensure the roof is completely dry and clean; if rubber is applied while roof is still wet bubbles will appear
3. Apply an EGO BONDING LIQUID PRIMER 1 x 20 litre (coat 100m²) and lookout for damaged tiles. Repair/replace damaged tiles.
4. Close all horizontal and vertical lines with EGO FIBRE FILLER; (if roof slope is less than 15 degrees, horizontal and vertical lines must be sealed; if roof slope is more than 15 degrees do all vertical lines with EGO FIBRE FILLER) – WITH BRUSH
5. Use a membrane together with EGO LIQUID RUBBER for closing of valleys, and roof tops(nokke)
6. When roof is completely dry and roof temperature is between 5-25°C then start applying the first coat horizontally (@ 0,5kg/m²) and second coat vertically (@ 0,5kg/m²). Allow 12 hours lapse time between coatings
7. For coatings use brush, roller or airless spray machine
8. For EGO FIBRE FILLER use brush ONLY

1x bucket EGO LIQUID RUBBER = 20kg (1x bucket gives you 20m²) (first coat 0.5kg) (second coat 0.5kg) =1kg/m² e.g. (house is 200m²) What do I need?

1. Primer = EGO BONDING LIQUID 1 x 20L bucket seal 100m² Roof size = 200m² ÷ 100 = 2 buckets EGO BONDING LIQUID
2. Preparation = EGO FIBRE FILLER Roof size = 200m² x 0.5 = 100kg = 5 buckets EGO LIQUID RUBBER

ASBESTOS ROOF

Recommendation is to let the client use an approved cleaning company that specializes in cleaning of asbestos surfaces. Once cleaned then continue with waterproofing.

1. Ensure the roof is clean of all debris, oil & grease.
2. Apply an EGO BONDING LIQUID as a primer 20L = 100m²
3. Be on the lookout for cracks as asbestos is most likely to crack. (Upon detection of cracks use membrane and EGO LIQUID RUBBER to cover the cracks from the top to the bottom – DO NOT seal just the cracks)
4. Seal all overlaps and valleys with membrane as well as all screw heads. Ensure that the membrane is flat, and no folds are visible to prevent water seeping through
5. When roof is completely dry and roof temperature is between 5-25°C then start applying the first coat horizontally (@ 0,5kg/m²)
and second coat vertically (@ 0,5kg/m²). Allow 12 hours lapse time between coatings
6. For coatings use brush, roller of airless spray machine

1x bucket EGO LIQUID RUBBER = 20kg (1x bucket gives you 20m²) (first coat 0.5kg) (second coat 0.5kg) =1kg/m² e.g. (house is 200m²) What do I need?

1. Primer = EGO BONDING LIQUID 1 x 20L bucket seal 100sq² Roof size = 200m² ÷ 100 = 2 buckets EGO BONDING LIQUID

CONCRETE / RAW SLAB ROOF

1. Thoroughly clean surface and ensure the concrete is clean of all debris, oil & grease
2. Ensure surface is dry and clean
3. Apply EGO BONDING LIQUID to the clean cement slab and allow 2 hours to dry. 20 litre bonding can do 100m²
4. Start by covering all joints with 200mm membrane and EGO LIQUID RUBBER – first, by putting a thick layer RUBBER on, then applying membrane (while rubber is still wet) and then thick RUBBER layer again over the membrane. Ensure that there are no folds in the membrane.
5. Then start with the flat surface by applying the same method with 500mm or 1000mm membrane with a roller. Ensure that when you overlap there must be an overlap of 40mm. Cover the membrane with another layer of EGO LIQUID RUBBER and leave to dry. Preparation work is done
6. You can now start with your final application; 2 coats of EGO LIQUID RUBBER; first coat horizontally (@ 0,5kg/m²) and second coat vertically (@ 0,5kg/m²)

1x bucket EGO LIQUID RUBBER = 20kg (1x bucket gives you 20m²) (first coat 0.5kg) (second coat 0.5kg) =1kg/m² e.g. (cement slab is 200m²) What do I need?
